Suva Futsal concluded the 2024 season in stellar fashion, successfully defending their title at the Extra Supermarket Inter-District Championship with a decisive 6-2 victory over Lautoka in the grand finale held at Vodafone Arena. This triumph solidifies Suva’s position as the premier futsal team in the country, having already captured the Futsal League title earlier in the season.
In the championship match, Krishneel Singh and Aman Naidu each scored two goals, while Deepal Singh and Justin Kumar added one goal each to the tally. Lautoka’s Aporosa Yada netted both goals for his team, earning him the distinction of being the tournament’s top scorer with an impressive total of 13 goals.
Head Coach Vivek Nadan expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, especially after a challenging loss to Ba during pool play. Nadan remarked, “I am really happy with the win today. They recovered well and, once we stepped into the final, we knew it was ours.” His belief in the team’s resilience proved to be spot-on as they showcased their talent when it mattered the most.
In other achievements, Rewa Futsal celebrated their success in the Women’s Futsal IDC, clinching overall points and recognition for their performance. Key awards from the tournament include the Fair Play Award for Nasinu Futsal, Gold Boot Award for Adi Litia Bakaniceva (Rewa), Golden Ball Award for Maria Veronika (Rewa), and Golden Glove Award for Emily Esposita (Nasinu) in the women’s division. Meanwhile, in the men’s category, Lautoka Futsal received the Fair Play Award, with Aporosa Yada recognized as the top scorer along with Nikil Chand from Suva securing the Golden Ball, and Kitione Baleloa earning the Golden Glove.
