Suva Futsal celebrated a triumphant end to the 2024 season as they successfully defended their title in the Extra Supermarket Inter-District Championship, achieving a decisive 6-2 victory against Lautoka in the grand finale held at the Vodafone Arena.
The Capital City team not only retained the Futsal IDC title but also secured the Futsal League title earlier in the season, solidifying their status as the premier futsal team in the country. Key players Krishneel Singh and Aman Naidu each scored two goals, supported by further contributions from Deepal Singh and Justin Kumar, who added one goal apiece.
Although Lautoka’s Aporosa Yada netted both of their goals and stood out as the tournament’s top scorer with a remarkable total of 13 goals, it wasn’t enough to overcome Suva’s dominant performance in the final match.
Head Coach Vivek Nadan expressed his joy at the victory, especially after experiencing a loss in the pool stage against Ba. “I am really happy with the win today. We told the boys it was better to lose a match in pool play rather than in the eliminations,” he shared, acknowledging the team’s recovery and preparation that led them to victory in the final.
In the women’s competition, Rewa Futsal emerged victorious by clinching the Women’s Futsal IDC title based on overall points, showcasing the competitive spirit and talent present in both leagues.
