Shoppers in Suva are creating a lively atmosphere in the city as they rush to complete their Christmas shopping just one day before the holiday celebrations begin. This surge in consumer activity has led to a significant boost in sales for local businesses.

Jitesh Patel, President of the Suva Retailers Association, noted that there has been a positive response from families and individuals alike as they make their final gift purchases. He emphasized the association’s commitment to working alongside law enforcement and city officials to ensure a secure and enjoyable shopping experience for all customers.

Patel reassured shoppers that all members of the association are complying with regulations to keep prices aligned with government standards. He clarified that complaints received by the Consumer Council were primarily concerning non-member businesses, emphasizing that association members are adhering to the set rules.

With the holiday season in full swing, Patel expressed optimism that this strong shopping trend would continue during the final days leading up to Christmas. This sentiment is echoed by the Nadi Chamber of Commerce, which is actively responding to the increasing consumer demand.

Many businesses are taking advantage of outdoor sales, as costs have been heavily subsidized, making shopping experiences even more appealing. As authorities remind shoppers to plan ahead, check their receipts, and report any unfair practices, the overall atmosphere in Suva remains festive and bright. This proactive approach by both retailers and law enforcement aims to ensure a smooth holiday season for everyone involved.
