After months of investigation into a burglary on Bau St, Suva that went viral on social media, detectives have successfully arrested and charged the suspect.

Earlier this year on March 18, a family residing on Bau St fell victim to a reported burglary during which a large array of their possessions were stolen. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), operations, and intelligence teams, a raid was carried out at the accused’s residence in Saivou, Ra. The raid resulted in the arrest of the 34-year-old man suspected of the burglary.

He was subsequently taken to Suva Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing one charge of burglary and one of theft. Investigators were able to retrieve items thought to have been stolen, estimated to be worth around $1500.

While investigations into other possible crimes continue, the suspect has been detained at Totogo Police Station.
