Sustainable Seas: Nations Unite to Protect Pacific Tuna Resources

An essential six-day annual conference of fishing nations and stakeholders has commenced at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, focusing on the sustainable management of the Pacific’s crucial tuna resources. Known as the 21st regular session of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission, the event has attracted 550 participants from around the world to deliberate on the region’s tuna stocks and their responsible development.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka opened the session, highlighting the deep-seated importance of the Pacific Ocean to the livelihoods, cultures, and economies of the Pacific Island nations.
