Christopher Pryde, the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, has made a formal request to President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu for access to the Tribunal Report regarding allegations of misconduct against him. In his letter sent to the President’s office and shared with the media, Pryde mentioned that he learned the report was submitted to the President on December 23, 2024. After reaching out to the Tribunal for a copy, he was advised to contact the President’s office directly.

Pryde emphasized that, according to Section 112 (6) of the Constitution, the report is required to be made public without discretion. He cited further constitutional provisions that mandate the President to act on the Tribunal’s recommendations and that his suspension should end if insufficient evidence is found to support the allegations against him.

Notably, Pryde pointed out that it has been nearly 21 months since his suspension in April 2023 and around six months since his salary was halted, resulting in significant financial strain. He urgently called for a resolution to this matter, highlighting the Tribunal’s completion of its review process.

In his request, Pryde asked the President to inform him of the outcome of the report, provide him with a copy for public release, and reinstate his position and remuneration if no substantial evidence is found against him.

This situation underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in such high-profile positions and illustrates the potential challenges faced by individuals under suspension. As the process unfolds, it brings hope for a swift resolution, allowing Pryde the opportunity for reinstatement and the restoration of his financial stability.

In conclusion, as the community awaits the outcome of the report, it is crucial to maintain a focus on due process and uphold the principles of justice.
