A suspect was apprehended last night at the Nadonumai Roundabout by law enforcement after being caught with illicit drugs. The Fiji Police Force stated that the individual was in a vehicle that caught their attention. With the help of the K-9 Unit, authorities discovered a clear plastic wrapper containing five dried branches and leaves believed to be marijuana within the vehicle.
Upon further investigation at the suspect’s residence, police uncovered a zip lock plastic bag filled with loose dried leaves, again thought to be marijuana. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, noted that drug-related arrests are a daily occurrence and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to intensifying their efforts during the festive season.
ACP Driu emphasized their proactive strategies, which include targeting known drug hotspots and conducting surprise vehicle checks throughout the community. He urged public support in this ongoing battle against drug-related activities.
Currently, the suspect is in custody at Lami Police Station, where further investigations are taking place.
