A man has been placed on remand by the Suva Magistrate’s Court following accusations of stealing a woman’s bag in Raiwai on Saturday night. Apolosa Macedru appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza, facing a charge of robbery.

The incident was captured on surveillance footage, showing Macedru pushing the 21-year-old victim before forcefully taking her bag, which contained items valued at $880. After the robbery, Macedru fled down Nairai Road in Raiwai, Suva.

The prosecution has provided complete disclosures in the case, and Macedru has opted for representation from the Legal Aid Commission. He has also requested for the case to be handled in the Magistrate’s Court. The next hearing is set for February 25.
