A 23-year-old man from Nabua Topline has been arrested following an alleged assault on a police officer on Waimanu Road in Suva this afternoon.
The police responded to an initial call regarding disorderly conduct, dispatching officers from the Central Division, K9 Unit, and Southern Division to the scene. As they arrived, the situation escalated, resulting in the suspect reportedly assaulting one of the officers before fleeing to a nearby residence.
Officers quickly pursued the suspect and were able to apprehend him shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, the officer who was assaulted sustained injuries during the incident.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue. This incident highlights the risks law enforcement officers face daily in maintaining public safety and order.
