Amit Prasad and Elizabeth Moceiwai from Suva Bowls triumphed at the 2025 Bred Bank-sponsored Victor Clarke tournament, held last weekend in Lautoka. The competition showcased an impressive level of skill and unexpected outcomes, making it a thrilling event for both players and spectators alike.
In the men’s singles final, Amit secured victory against Yusuf Khan from Lautoka after a series of surprising upsets in the competition, which saw several top contenders eliminated earlier than anticipated. The quarter-finalists included notable players such as David Aitcheson, Munesh Kumar, Dan Vinod, Surend Prasad, Simon Ratnam, and Semesa Naiseruvati. Amit advanced to the final by defeating Aitcheson in the semifinals, while Yusuf secured his place by overcoming Simon Ratnam.
On the women’s side, Elizabeth Moceiwai captured the singles title by defeating Bowls Lautoka’s Benau Bennion in a closely contested final. The semi-finals saw Elizabeth face off against Aki Khan, Benau, and Dinusha Chandima, with both Moceiwai and Bennion making their respective debuts in the gold-medal match, adding to the excitement of the tournament.
Games controller David Bennion expressed his satisfaction with the event, highlighting the remarkable turnout and the high caliber of play observed throughout the tournament. “It was a good competition with a wonderful turnout from all bowlers,” he commented.
