Support Behind the Stars: Coach Kolinisau’s Heartfelt Tribute

Fiji men’s rugby sevens coach Osea Kolinisau has expressed his gratitude for the support of players’ wives and partners, emphasizing their significant sacrifices leading up to the Paris Olympics. Following the team’s return from the Games, Kolinisau highlighted the often-overlooked contributions of these women, noting that they endure challenges at home, especially when managing children alone.

In a heartfelt social media post, Kolinisau acknowledged his wife’s dedication in caring for their two children while he was away competing. He emphasized that the wives contribute immensely to the players’ success by taking on the dual responsibilities of parenting and household management, allowing the athletes to focus on their performance.

“You have to act as a single parent doing the work of two people because your husband is often away,” Kolinisau said, noting the crucial role these women play in the lives of the players. He added that they encourage players to concentrate on their game without worrying about family matters, highlighting the essential support they provide.

Kolinisau is set to meet with the Fiji Rugby Union Board in the coming days to discuss his future as the national team’s head coach, as his current contract extends only until the completion of the Olympic Games.
