The Nasinu Magistrates Court has remanded two individuals accused of robbing Alison Supermarket in Laucala Beach on Monday. The defendants, 51-year-old Sosiveta Raura and 43-year-old Leone Lesumailepanoni, are facing four counts of robbery each and appeared before Resident Magistrate Charles Ratakele.

The magistrate has decided to transfer the case to the High Court in Suva. The court proceedings revealed that the two accused were apprehended on the day of the incident. Both individuals acknowledged the charges, and the first phase of disclosures was provided to them. They indicated their intention to secure private legal representation.

The case has been scheduled for a follow-up hearing next Thursday. Additionally, a third suspect involved in the incident was questioned by the police but has since been released.

The police reported that the suspects allegedly intimidated supermarket employees with cane knives before escaping with stolen goods and cash in a taxi, which was found in Tacirua Heights about an hour later.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns around safety and security in local communities. However, it also demonstrates the effectiveness of local law enforcement in swiftly responding to and resolving such cases. As the legal process unfolds, it is essential to focus on community support and resilience in the face of these challenges. Justice will play its part in addressing the situation for all those affected.
