The Nasinu Magistrates Court has placed two individuals in remand at the Suva Remand Centre after they were charged with robbing the Alison Supermarket in Laucala Beach on Monday. The accused, 51-year-old Sosiveta Raura and 43-year-old Leone Lesumailepanoni, face four counts of robbery each and appeared before Resident Magistrate Charles Ratakele, who has since referred the case to the High Court in Suva.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that the two suspects were arrested on the same day as the robbery. Their charges were formally read to them, and both indicated their intention to retain private legal counsel. The first phase of disclosures was completed, and the case has been postponed until next Thursday for further developments.

Additionally, a third suspect linked to the incident was interrogated by police but has since been released. According to police reports, the suspects allegedly threatened supermarket employees with cane knives before escaping in a taxi, which was later found in Tacirua Heights, approximately an hour after the incident occurred.

This incident underscores the ongoing issues of crime and public safety in the region, but also demonstrates the responsiveness of law enforcement in promptly addressing such incidents. The judicial process will continue to ensure that justice is served, highlighting the importance of legal representation for those accused.

As the case moves forward, it remains crucial for the community to stay informed and vigilant against crime while supporting efforts to maintain safety and security in all public areas.
