The Nasinu Magistrates Court has taken significant action regarding the robbery incident at Alison Supermarket in Laucala Beach, which occurred on Monday. Two individuals, 51-year-old Sosiveta Raura and 43-year-old Leone Lesumailepanoni, have been remanded at the Suva Remand Centre following their appearance before Resident-Magistrate Charles Ratakele.
Both accused face four counts of robbery each and the case has been forwarded to the High Court in Suva for further proceedings. Initial disclosures were also provided to them, and they indicated a desire to engage private legal representation.
The case will resume next Thursday to continue the legal process. Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that a third individual involved in the incident was questioned but subsequently released by police.
According to police reports, the suspects allegedly threatened supermarket employees with cane knives while escaping with stolen goods and cash, using a taxi as their getaway vehicle.
