Two of the three individuals accused of breaking into the Alison Supermarket at Laucala Beach on Monday morning are scheduled to appear in the High Court in Suva next Friday. Leone Lesumailepanoni, 43, and Sosiveta Raura, 51, faced Magistrate Charles Ratakele yesterday, each charged with four counts of robbery.
The charges stem from allegations that the pair, along with a third accomplice, entered the supermarket equipped with cane knives and threatened the cashier to force her to hand over cash from the till. The third individual involved in the incident has since been released by police following their investigation.
Magistrate Ratakele has ordered that the two men remain in custody until their court date.
This incident highlights ongoing issues related to crime in the area, but it also serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and law enforcement efforts to maintain public safety. The swift action taken by the police reflects a commitment to addressing incidents of crime, ensuring that justice prevails, and that community members feel secure.
