Two of the three men accused of breaking into the Alison Supermarket at Laucala Beach on Monday morning are scheduled to appear in the High Court in Suva next Friday. Leone Lesumailepanoni, 43, and Sosiveta Raura, 51, appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele yesterday, where they were charged with four counts of robbery each.
According to allegations, the two men, along with an accomplice, brandished cane knives and threatened the cashier to empty the cash register. The third suspect was released by police following the investigation.
Magistrate Ratakele has ordered that the two men remain in custody until their court appearance next week.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding public safety and crime in the area. However, it is also worth noting that the swift action of law enforcement in apprehending the suspects reflects a commitment to maintaining security within the community. The upcoming court proceedings will provide an opportunity for justice to be served and potentially deter future criminal activity.
