Many people celebrated the birthday of Prophet Muhammad yesterday with planned activities and worship in homes and mosques, while others took advantage of the public holiday to enjoy picnics across the country. The sunny and breezy weather made it an ideal day for families to spend time outdoors.

Among those savoring the day were members of the Kalabu Jyoti Assemblies of God church, who started their activities with a service followed by team bonding exercises, including a potluck lunch and various games. Arveena Kumar, the wife of the senior pastor, Suresh Kumar, described the turnout and activities as very engaging, stating, “We are here for team bonding and basically a family get together.” She mentioned that they enjoyed a delicious lunch before participating in games such as a spoon race, apple and bun eating contest, duck and wheelbarrow race, touch rugby, and swimming.

At Suva Point in Laucala Bay, the Hedstrom family from Nakasi, Nasinu also enjoyed their picnic. Dad Kibae noted that the outing was the perfect break from school and work. His 15-year-old son, Caleb Ueanimaraki, commented on the relaxing nature of the trip, saying, “I came with my uncle and his family, and the trip was relaxing before we get back to school.”
