A weak trough of low pressure over the southwest of Viti Levu, combined with a moist easterly wind flow, will keep much of the group cloudier than usual today with showers and scattered thunderstorms. The heaviest activity is expected during the afternoon and evening, particularly over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, where thunderstorms may produce heavy falls and localised flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Interior and eastern Viti Levu — including Serua‑Namosi through Navua, Greater Suva‑Nausori to Tailevu North — along with Interior Ra, the Yasawa group, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, eastern parts of Macuata and Cakaudrove, southern Bua, and Taveuni will see cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms. Suva, Navua and Nausori are forecast to have cloudy periods with showers and isolated storms (min 24°C, max 31°C), with slightly warmer readings expected on Monday. Coastal areas such as Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Sigatoka and the Coral Coast should expect mainly fine conditions apart from afternoon or evening showers, but afternoon thunderstorms with heavy falls remain possible.
Northern and other island stations including Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, the Yasawa/Mamanuca groups, Lau and Lomaiviti, and Kadavu will generally have cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures across most centres will be around mid‑twenties overnight to low‑thirties by day (roughly 24–32°C), with similar conditions expected into Monday and continued risk of heavy afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Winds will be a moderate easterly across the group with moderate seas for most areas. Rotuma is affected by a separate weak trough to the east of the island and can expect cloudy periods with brief showers, moderate to fresh easterlies and moderate to rough seas; daytime temperatures there are also in the mid‑twenties to low‑thirties.
People in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas should be alert to the possibility of short‑lived but heavy rainfall and the risk of flash flooding during afternoon thunderstorms. Boaters and those planning coastal activities should note the moderate seas and, for Rotuma, the locally rougher conditions and fresher winds. The general pattern is expected to continue into Monday with similar areas seeing showers and afternoon thunderstorms.
