The defending champions of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl, the Police team, are gearing up for an exciting match against the Army after the latter’s recent defeat in the Escott Shield final.
Last year, the Police triumphed against the Army in a closely contested final that ended in an 11-all tie; however, the Police secured the win by scoring the first try.
Mesake Waqa, the President of Fiji Police Rugby, stated that the preparations for the upcoming Sukuna Bowl have been rigorous, with the team looking forward to their clash with the military.
“The preparations for the Sukuna Bowl rugby team are in full swing, and we do not underestimate our opponents,” Waqa remarked.
He acknowledged that the Army would be well-prepared, emphasizing the significance of this event for both forces as they aim to deliver their best performance.
With the Sukuna Bowl title on the line, Waqa noted that the Army would be eager to reclaim the championship, stating, “I know our brothers from the military will also want to retain that, despite losing the Escott Shield over the weekend. I am confident they will come ready for the Sukuna Bowl.”
In support of the team, the Fiji Police Force has renewed its partnership with Shop N Save, which has been sponsoring the team for three years.
The much-anticipated Sukuna Bowl competition is set to take place on November 8.
