Sukuna Bowl 2025 Lands in Labasa: Northern Fiji’s Weekend of Football and Rugby

People in the northern region of Fiji will have the opportunity to participate in the highly anticipated 2025 Vodafone Sukuna Bowl, which will be hosted at Subrail Park in Labasa on November 20-21. This annual event will feature both football and rugby competitions, allowing locals to witness and engage in activities they usually enjoy via television.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga elaborated on the decision to relocate this year’s event to Labasa, stating that it came at the request of the former president, Gone Turaga na Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere. He emphasized that this change will enable residents of the north to experience the Sukuna Bowl firsthand.

“It’s time for the Northerners to enjoy what they usually see on TV. They also play a part in the Sukuna Bowl,” Lutunauga remarked, while also highlighting the significance of the event in promoting values of discipline, unity, and service within the community. The Sukuna Bowl serves not just as a sporting competition but as a platform for the Fiji Police Force to advocate against drug use and address various critical social issues.

The men’s soccer match is slated for November 20, followed by an exciting day of rugby on November 21, starting with a women’s match at 11 AM and culminating in the men’s match at 3 PM. In addition, other competitions will take place in Suva from November 17-19.

This event not only celebrates athleticism but also embodies a commitment to community wellbeing and social responsibility, making it a significant occasion for both participants and spectators alike. The anticipation surrounding the Sukuna Bowl reflects a growing enthusiasm for sports that unite communities while addressing pressing societal concerns.
