Police have arrested and charged two Year 10 students who were reportedly found with drugs last week. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu confirmed that the students were discovered at their schools.
According to Mr. Driu, the two 16-year-olds were in possession of sachets containing marijuana—one student from a school in Suva and the other from a school in Sigatoka. He emphasized that drug offenses are taken very seriously and that anyone involved in such activities will face charges. “This offense is irreconcilable, and we will take reports seriously. We are stressing the importance of parental support and the need for it to be strengthened,” he stated.
Additionally, a 65-year-old woman was charged and presented in court after being found with methamphetamine and marijuana on September 15. Mr. Driu noted that the drugs were uncovered during a raid at her residence in Lautoka.
