Starting September 1, 2024, student bus fares will align with adult fares, thanks to a full government subsidy for students using blue and yellow bus cards. The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has finalized its review of current bus fares and established a new pricing methodology in collaboration with the Fiji Bus Operators Association.
Previously, student fares were set at 50 percent of the adult fare, but the new approach recommends equalizing these rates. The government will continue to fully subsidize travel for students with blue cards under the transport assistance program, while also covering the 50 percent fare increase for students with yellow cards.
