Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi (because someone has to keep an eye on the skies) at 11:33 AM on this Thursday, June 26, 2025.
Hold onto your hats, folks! A strong wind warning is still blowing through the coastal areas of Beqa, Vatulele, Qelelevu, Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups. But fear not, the winds have decided to take a break along the rest of the southeastern parts of Viti Levu, Rakiraki, Kadavu, Yasawa, southern Vanua Levu (that’s Southern Bua and Cakaudrove for all you geography buffs), Taveuni, and the nearby small islands, including Cikobia. They’ve been given a rain check!
As for what’s cooking in the weather pot for Fiji until midnight tomorrow, here’s the scoop:
For the coastal superheroes in Beqa, Vatulele, Qelelevu, Lau, and Lomaiviti:
Expect southeast winds that could give you a serious case of windblown hair, reaching up to 45 km/hr with gusts that might just blow your socks off at 60 km/hr. Things will calm down later today, but rough seas are still planning a party out there. Get ready for some cloudy interludes interspersed with showers, followed by cooler nights (bring on the blankets!).
Now, if you’re in the interior and coastal areas of southeastern Viti Levu (you know, that stretch from Serua/Namosi through Navua to Suva up to Korovou), Kadavu, and southern Vanua Levu:
It’s a bit of a mixed bag! Expect the same cloudy friends hanging out with some brief showers, which are expected to take a hint and ease up tomorrow. The nights will be cool enough to make you consider hot cocoa, especially with moderate southeast winds that might get a little fresh from time to time. Rough seas might just be rough with your plans, so tread carefully!
For the rest of Fiji:
You’re in luck! Mainly fine weather will greet you, followed by pleasantly cool nights. Moderate southeasterly winds are in charge, throwing a bit of a party on the seas.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s outlook:
Prepare for cloudy periods with brief showers in the Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou-Rakiraki, Serua-Namosi, Naitasiri-Tailevu-Ra, Southern Bua-Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and nearby small islands, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti group. Meanwhile, the sun will still be hanging out in other areas, enjoying the fine weather — must be the VIP area.
Let’s break this down by location:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori:
Get your umbrella out because it’s cloudy with some showers. And don’t forget the cool nights!
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:
Looks like you’re on the sunny side—mainly fine with cool nights ahead.
For Coral Coast/Sigatoka:
Same story: mainly fine and cool at night.
For Tavua/Rakiraki:
Mostly fine with Rakiraki being the belle of the ball, but expect some cloudy periods and brief showers elsewhere. Cool nights are still on the menu.
For Natadradave/Korovou:
Get ready for cloudy periods and some showers. Cool nights await!
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group, Labasa, and Rotuma:
Mainly fine weather will be your friend—just make sure to cherish those cool nights.
For Savusavu:
Brace yourself for cloudy periods with some showers and cool nights.
And finally for Lau and Lomaiviti and the lovely Kadavu:
You guessed it—cloudy periods with showers hanging around, and you’ll need those blankets at night.
So keep your hats tight, your umbrellas handy, and snuggle up, because the weather might get a bit rowdy!
