A strong wind warning remains in force for coastal land areas for Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Situation: A weak trough of low pressure is sitting over the country and drifting east. Another trough is set to roll in from the northeast later today. Expect cloud and showers to dampen the northern and eastern parts of the group over the next few days.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
– Coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: Southeast winds up to 45 km/h.
– Rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times. Rough seas.
– Weather pattern: Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers becoming frequent later today. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash-flooding of low-lying areas. Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Cool at night.
