Weather Update from the Nadi Jedi Academy of Weather Wizards, 5:30 AM, Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Attention all daring adventurers and coastal dwellers: A strong wind warning is currently casting its spell over the land areas of Ra-Rakiraki, Southern Bua, Eastern Macuata, Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Taveuni, and surrounding island minions, Kadavu and its pint-sized companions.

What’s the situation, you ask? A southeast wind flow is ruling the windy kingdom. Wizards forecast strong southeast winds, flexing their muscles up to 45 km/hr in the peculiar locales mentioned above. Meanwhile, moderate to fresh southeast winds will be throwing random gusty tantrums elsewhere, with seas that could serve as a set for the next “Perfect Storm” sequel.

Showers will be dropping in on Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, Yasawa, Lau, and the Lomaiviti groups, as well as Taveuni. Some of these showers are rumored to be quite the downpours. Elsewhere, expect the sky to be mostly fine, but watch out for those sneaky afternoon or evening showers. Grab a sweater as it gets cool at night.

Outlook for Monday: The wind will still be at full throttle in the same areas, clocking in at 45 km/hr. Elsewhere, it will insist on being breezy with moderate to fresh southeast action. Showers and cloud cover are planning to stick around, especially in areas mentioned earlier. Nighttime temperatures will have you reaching for something cozy.

Suva and surrounding areas: Expect the skies to sprinkle some love your way with a low of 20 and a high of 28. Monday will be shady with more showers; bring your umbrella-rain parka combo.

Nadi, Lautoka, Ba: Enjoy a mix of sun and showers with a tad of cloudiness in the afternoon and evening. Lows of 19 and highs of 30. Monday seems like a remake of Sunday, but still cool when the sun finally clocks out.

Sigatoka and the Coral Coast: Mostly sunny with a chance for afternoon pop-up showers, low of 20 and high of 30. Monday repeats itself with a touch of nighttime coat weather.

Tavua, Rakiraki: Hold on to your hats, it’s windy! Expect gusts up to 45 km/hr with occasional showers in Rakiraki, while Tavua sees some sun breaks. Low of 20, high of 28. By Monday, more of the same story unfolds, but cooler overnight.

Natadradave, Korovou: Occasional shower sightings with lows of 20, highs of 28. Monday heralds more clouds and showers, perfect for night owls who enjoy the chill.

Yasawa, Mamanuca group: Wind gusts up to 45 km/hr and occasional showers decorate the landscape. Temperatures between 20 and 30. Monday maintains these breezy antics.

Labasa: Mostly fine with a sprinkle or two in the evening. Expect a steamy high of 31 and a refreshing low of 20. Monday is a duplicate of Sunday—with cooler vibes at night.

Savusavu: Where the showers have chosen to loiter. A cool 20 to a mellow 28. Monday promises clouds, showers, and maybe a friendly neighborhood rainbow.

Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu: Pack those extra large paperweights; 45 km/hr winds are on the agenda! Occasional showers will keep things damp and highs will stay lovingly at 28 with lows at 20. Monday? It’s practically déjà vu.

Rotuma: Warning, the wind is in a sustained state of vigor, taking us for a spin with average speeds of 45 km/hr both on land and sea. Successfully dodging the showers with mainly fine spells between 24 and 30. Good news on Monday: those gusty squalls might just mellow out.

Grab your kites folks, just be careful they don’t take you for an unintended flight!
