Weather Update
Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi! It’s currently 7:30 PM on this fine Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and we’re ready to dish out the details for our beloved islanders.
Now, hold on to your hats because a “Strong Wind Warning” is still on the loose like a runaway kite! Coastal areas of eastern Kadavu, nearby small islands, the eastern half of Viti Levu (we’re looking at you, Sigatoka through Korovou and Rakiraki), Taveuni, parts of Vanua Levu, and, of course, the Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups should brace themselves for some breezy shenanigans. Winds can whip up to 45 km/h – perfect for flying your favorite flags or perhaps an impromptu windsurfing session!
As this weather drama unfolds, an easterly wind is sweeping through the country, and a trough of low pressure is hanging out just east of Fiji, bringing clouds and the delightful possibility of rain for the next few days. Think of it as nature’s way of doing a dramatic reveal.
Forecasting until midnight tomorrow, expect those blustery easterly winds in the eastern areas of Kadavu, the eastern flank of Viti Levu, Taveuni, Vanua Levu, and that lovely Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti bunch. But fear not, winds should start easing up to more moderate levels tomorrow.
As for the rain? Well, let’s just say the heavens are feeling generous, with occasional downpours and the chance of thunderstorms. Our friends in Macuata, Southern Bua, and Taveuni might want to carry an umbrella or two. And don’t be surprised if isolated heavy falls pop up; it seems Mother Nature might just try her hand at a little flash flooding in low-lying areas!
Looking ahead to Thursday, expect cloudy spells with some rain and the thrilling possibility of thunderstorms. So if you plan to step outside, maybe consider wearing your “fashionable rain gear.”
Here’s a quick rundown for some key spots, sprinkled with a tad bit of humor:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: It’s a rainy welcome with potential heavy falls. Bring a sweater; it’s a cozy 22°C to 28°C in your forecast.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Partly cloudy with evening surprises in the form of showers and thunderstorms. A bit of rain, a bit of sun, and a high of 31°C—classic Fiji joy!
For the Coral Coast: Afternoon drama unfolds with unpredictable showers and more thunderstorms. Pack your umbrellas because it’s a 30°C day ahead.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional rain and a bit of thunder—sounds like a Friday night movie!
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: It’s all about those afternoon showers; let’s just call it “a little sprinkle of excitement!”
And as for Rotuma: You’ll likely see some friendly clouds with a chance of showers. Temperatures hovering between 23°C and 32°C means it’s still tropical paradise!
So, there you have it, folks! A blend of breezy winds and chances of rain for the days ahead. Stay dry, or at least stylishly wet!
