Hold onto your hats, folks! A STRONG WIND WARNING is blowing in like a drama queen across the coastal areas of southeastern Viti Levu, from Sigatoka all the way to Rakiraki, as well as Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Yasawa, southern Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and a few other tiny islands that probably have more coconuts than people.
What’s this gusty affair about? There’s a lazy trough of low pressure lounging just southwest of Fiji. It’s expected to saunter onto our shores today, intensifying and throwing a shindig of rain and thunderstorms all over the group until late tomorrow. Get ready for some generous southeast winds starting to blow like they mean business by Wednesday!
Forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
Expect mostly cloudy skies with some showers trying to crash the party. Showers are expected to become a bit more generous, ramping up to rain with occasional heavy downpours and unsolicited thunderstorms later today.
In those coastal areas I mentioned earlier, be prepared for southeast winds whipping at 30 to 40 km/hr and really trying to impress by reaching up to 55 km/hr tomorrow. Everywhere else? Just moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, perfect for a breezy stroll – just hold onto your sunglasses!
Seas are looking a bit rough – you might want to steer clear of any boats unless you want to experience the thrill of a bumpy ride.
Outlook for Wednesday: More cloudy periods with showers lingering like a relative who overstays their welcome, especially over Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou-Rakiraki, and southern Bua-Cakaudrove. And don’t forget, southern islands, Lau, and Lomaiviti will also be contributing to this cloudy goodness. But hey, the fine weather might pop up elsewhere, and nights are set to be cool, so get cozy!
For specific areas:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori:** More clouds, more showers, and those pesky thunderstorms rolling in later today. Winds, you guessed it – up to 55 km/hr. Cool dreams ahead!
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast:** It’s a cloudy affair too, with expectations for rain and the occasional thunder drama. Stay cool at night!
– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** Similar situation – occasional rain, thunder and cool air waiting for you at bedtime.
– **Tavua/Rakiraki:** Same story: cloudy, with some rain, and cool nights – but with winds gearing up to 55 km/hr tomorrow.
– **Yasawa/Mamanuca group:** You guessed it, they’re in for cloudy periods and some showers too!
– **Labasa:** Cloudy with some showers hanging out.
– **Savusavu:** Cloudy with potential for showers and subsequent thunderous applause.
And let’s not forget our friends at **Rotuma**: STRONG WIND WARNING in effect, as southeast winds come to visit with speeds up to 50 km/hr. Showers are expected to crash your sunny plans later today.
So gear up, folks! It’s a wild weather ride ahead, and don’t forget your umbrellas – and your sense of humor!
