Weather Update: Hold onto Your Hats!

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025

Attention coastal dwellers! A STRONG WIND WARNING is waving at you from the southeastern parts of Viti Levu, which includes the vibrant route from Sigatoka to Suva and up to the exhilarating Rakiraki. This alert stretches across Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Yasawa, and even Southern Vanua Levu! So if you spot a rogue umbrella flying by, consider it a warning sign!

What’s the situation? Well, a delightfully moist southeasterly wind flow has decided to make itself at home over the islands. So, it’s a bit breezy while you sip your coconut water!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for our lovely Fiji group:
**Northern Lau Group:** The winds are flexing their muscles with speeds of up to 50 km/hr and gusts that could knock your socks off at 65 km/hr before they start calming down later today. Prepare for a rollercoaster ride on the sea, as it’s looking rough out there. Occasional showers are in the mix, but don’t worry, they’ll ease up tomorrow. And nights? Definitely cool, perfect for snuggling up!

**Southeastern Viti Levu and Friends:** Get ready for southeast winds up to 45 km/hr and gusts that’ll come at you like a surprise party balloon, peaking at 60 km/hr, gradually mellowing by tomorrow. Rough seas ahead, so no surfing your breakfast pancakes just yet! Expect occasional showers, tapering off to some lighter sprinkles tomorrow. Nights will keep things cool, perfect for a late-night snack under the stars.

**Rest of Fiji:** It’s mostly fine! Just like that one friend who always brings dessert to the party! Nights will be cool, with southeastern winds keeping things interesting. Rough seas are still a threat, so don’t forget your flotation devices!

**Outlook for Friday:** Expect some cloudy periods with brief showers in Navua, Suva, and their pals, the Nausori and Rakiraki regions. The rest of Fiji, however, will be basking in sunny charm. A tad cool at night, so keep those warm socks handy!

Locations in a nutshell:
– **Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Gentle breezes up to 45 km/hr with occasional, delightful showers easing up tomorrow.
– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** Mainly fine and dandy. Cool nights will keep you wrapped up.
– **Coral Coast/Sigatoka:** Expect those gusts again but they’ll chill out after tomorrow.
– **Rakiraki:** Same wind story, but mostly fine elsewhere, and cool nights await.
– **Viti Levu’s Yasawa/Mamanuca:** Keeping it breezy with sprinkles easing tomorrow.
– **Labasa:** Just fine, with cool nights catching some attention.
– **Savusavu:** More of those gentle breezes and occasional showers.
– **Lau and Lomaiviti Group:** More gusty winds and rough patches, but eases tomorrow, bringing cool nights.

Oh, and dear Rotuma, you’re not off the hook! A STRONG WIND WARNING still stands. The southeast winds may test your hair gel with gusts up to 50 km/hr today, but they’ll eventually ease tonight. Rough seas are in store, along with cloudy periods and quick showers to add some drama to the day!

So folks, brace yourselves for a few gusty encounters, keep those umbrellas close, and enjoy the cooler evenings! It might just be the perfect weather to binge-watch your favorite show!
