Weather Update from the National Forecasting Centre Nadi

Well, folks, it seems the big bad gale has decided to hang up its boots and call it a day for the Northern Lau Group. So, if you were planning to have your hair blown back like a rock star, you might have to reschedule that!

However, if you’re living in the southeastern coastal areas of Viti Levu—specifically anywhere from Sigatoka through Navua all the way to Suva and Rakiraki—hold onto your hats! The wind is still quite strong, with speeds of up to 45 km/hr and gusts reaching up to 60 km/hr. Let’s just say, it’s not the best day for kite flying, unless you’re looking for a high-speed experience!

Looks like a moist southeasterly wind flow is enveloping everyone like a warm, damp hug. As for the sea? It’s turning into a bit of a bumpy rollercoaster ride with rough to very rough conditions ahead!

The forecast for the rest of the Fiji islands up to midnight tomorrow is as follows:

– **Northern Lau Group**: Think southeast winds flashing by at 50 km/hr with some spirited gusts hitting 65 km/hr—slow down, winds! The seas are looking pretty gnarly too. Occasional showers will be visiting, but expect them to pack their bags by tomorrow. Nights will bring in a cool breeze, perfect for hot chocolate!

– **Southeastern Coast of Viti Levu**: Similar high-speed winds and rough seas—treat them like a cheeky little squirrel on espresso! Showers will occasionally drop by, but they’ll be more polite and start to leave tomorrow. The nights will be as cool as a cucumber.

Now, if you’re cruising in the rest of Fiji: Expect mostly fine weather but keep your cardigan handy for the cool nights. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds will still be around, along with the rough seas—our oceans really love a bit of drama!

**Looking ahead to Friday**: We’re seeing a bit of cloud cover, especially in the Navua, Suva, and surrounding areas, with brief showers expected. Meanwhile, those lucky folks in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba can bask in mostly fine weather—like sunbathers at a beach resort!

**And just for our friends in Rotuma**: The strong wind warning is still on high alert for you. Expect those winds to gust up to 50 km/hr, with seas getting a little rougher. Showers and some isolated thunderstorms are on the guest list too. Be careful out there—it sounds like Mother Nature has some plans!

So, whether you’re battening down the hatches or planning a relaxed evening, stay safe and make the most of whatever weather comes your way!
