President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu recently bid farewell to Shri P.S. Karthigeyan, the outgoing High Commissioner of India to Fiji. During their meeting, President Lalabalavu expressed gratitude for India’s ongoing support and significant contributions to Fiji’s development.
He emphasized the strong bond between Fiji and India, founded on mutual respect, shared history, and a collaborative vision for future advancements. The President highlighted India’s crucial involvement in several projects, notably the solarization of the State House, exemplifying Fiji’s dedication to renewable energy and sustainability.
Additionally, he pointed out India’s vital role in enhancing healthcare in Fiji, particularly through the establishment of a 100-bed Super Specialty Cardiology Hospital, which promises to provide substantial benefits not only to Fijians but also to neighboring regions in the Pacific.
President Lalabalavu also acknowledged the assistance provided by India during the COVID-19 pandemic and the various grants and scholarships that have allowed Fijian students to study in India, thereby fostering the development of Fiji’s human resources.
As India and Fiji continue to strengthen their relationship, this partnership is expected to yield further benefits, paving the way for sustainable development and enhanced healthcare in the future.
