Stranded at Sea: Passengers Left in Limbo for Over 15 Hours

Approximately 40 individuals were left stranded at Natovi Jetty for over 15 hours without any communication from the shipping company that had a vessel scheduled to depart for Vanua Levu at 10 PM on Thursday, August 29.

The Spirit of Harmony, operated by Interlink Shipping Line, caused frustration among passengers. Bimlesh Naidu shared with The Fiji Times that he and his family waited inside their car from 9 PM on Thursday.

“About 30 or 40 people were waiting from Thursday evening. My family and I had to stay in the car all night until the afternoon (yesterday), and we haven’t received any notice or updates from Interlink,” Mr. Naidu explained. He mentioned that he had traveled with Interlink several times before and had always trusted their services.

“However, after today, I’ve personally lost all hope in them,” he added.

The shipping company did post a notification on its Facebook page around 8 PM on Thursday, informing customers of a slight delay for their vessel coming from Nabouwalu and stating that services would resume two hours later.

Inquiries directed to Interlink Shipping Line have gone unanswered.
