A police uniform was reported stolen from a home in Naikabula, Lautoka last Friday, as confirmed by police spokesperson Anan Naisoro. The uniform belonged to an officer stationed at a local police post and was taken during the day while the officer was away from the residence. Along with the uniform, other assorted items were also reported missing from the house.

In light of recent incidents involving police uniform impersonation, including a case where a 19-year-old was caught wearing a police outfit in Nausori, this theft raises serious concerns about the security and integrity of law enforcement attire. Such impersonations undermine public trust in police and can have dire consequences for community safety.

Wearing a police uniform without authorization is an offense under Section 381 (1) (b) of the Crimes Act 2009, highlighting the need for law enforcement to safeguard their uniforms vigilantly. The hope is that swift action will be taken to apprehend those responsible for this theft and prevent any potential misuse of the uniform.

Maintaining the integrity of police attire is vital for the effectiveness of law enforcement. The community can take comfort in knowing that the police are actively investigating this matter to protect public safety and trust in the authority of their officers.
