A forty-five-year-old man has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by the High Court in Suva for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter on multiple occasions.
The man was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. However, he was acquitted of one count of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The court revealed that the incidents occurred between January 1, 2020, and December 31, three years ago.
Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull, while delivering the sentencing, ordered that the victim’s name be permanently suppressed.
“The existing interim domestic violence restraining order against you is made permanent for the protection of the victim,” stated Justice Bull.
