Police officers in the Western Division have been issued an ultimatum to either meet the expectations of their roles or resign. This directive came from the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the end-of-quarter divisional parade. The event addressed officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the need for officers to regard every report as important and to provide appropriate advice when necessary. He highlighted the community’s expectation for police to be more responsive and urged officers to either adapt to these demands or step down.

The commander reminded his team that handling complaints efficiently requires strict adherence to established processes and procedures. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

Additionally, he reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s policy of zero tolerance towards officers engaging in criminal activities. He warned that any officer found exploiting their position for personal gain through illegal activities would face serious consequences.
