“Step Up or Step Out: Police Chief’s Ultimatum to Officers”

Police officers in the Western Division have been warned to either meet the demands of their duties or resign. The warning was issued by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during a divisional parade that took place yesterday, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with equal significance and providing appropriate advice when necessary. He noted that the public expects and requires police officers to be more responsive, urging them to either rise to the challenge or step down if they cannot handle the pressures of policing.

He instructed the officers to reduce complaints by ensuring that they adhere strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be taken lightly, and proper advice must be provided to the complainant, so that they leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

Additionally, he reiterated the stance of Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, on having a zero-tolerance policy for officers involved in any criminal activities. He warned that any officer found exploiting their position for illegal personal gain would face serious consequences.
