“Step Up or Step Aside: A Policing Ultimatum in the Western Division”

Police officers in the Western Division have been warned to either meet the demands of their role or resign. The warning came from the head of the Western Division during his address at the end of the fourth quarter divisional parade, which took place yesterday for officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report seriously and providing appropriate advice to complainants. He highlighted that the community expects greater responsiveness from officers, urging them to either rise to the challenge or step aside if they are unable to fulfill the demands of policing.

SSP Vaisewa reminded his officers to address complaints effectively by adhering to established processes and procedures. He stated, “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied.”

Furthermore, he reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s stance on zero tolerance for officers engaging in criminal activities, stating that any officer who misuses their uniform for personal gain through illegal actions will face consequences.
