As the festive season approaches, the Fiji Police Force is urging the public to prioritize their safety. Starting Friday, the police will launch a nationwide operation aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone during this lively time of year.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of personal safety in various settings, whether during road travel, shopping, at seaside picnics, or simply enjoying leisure time with friends. He stated, “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, at picnics by the sea and or rivers and creeks or simply enjoying themselves with friends.”
To bolster these safety measures, there will be an increased police presence throughout towns, cities, roads, and community gatherings. ACP Driu highlighted that while the police are dedicated to maintaining law and order, community cooperation is vital for a secure festive experience. “The Fiji Police Force wants an incident-free festive season and is calling on for everyone’s support. Police cannot do this alone; we need your support,” he added.
As a positive note, this initiative reflects a commitment to collective safety and communal responsibility during a time known for celebration and togetherness. With the cooperation of the public, there is hope for a joyous and secure festive period in Fiji.
In summary, as the holiday season arrives, the Fiji Police are enhancing their presence and calling for public vigilance to ensure safety across various activities and gatherings, fostering a collaborative spirit in maintaining peace and security.
