As the festive season approaches, residents can expect a heightened police presence across the region. The Fiji Police Force has commenced its festive season operations, which began yesterday. Officers have received briefings highlighting the significance of these initiatives.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that starting this exercise early serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize personal safety during this festive period. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, enjoying picnics by the sea, or spending time with friends,” ACP Driu stated.
He noted that the increased police presence is intended to enhance public safety, but underscored that individual responsibility is paramount. “We are also here for the maintenance of law and order. We will assist our stakeholders in monitoring movements, particularly on our roads,” he added.
ACP Driu expressed the Fiji Police Force’s desire for an incident-free festive season and reiterated the call for community support. “Police cannot do this alone, and we need your support. Help us keep everyone safe, whether on our roads, at sea, in towns and cities, or at home with family.”
Residents will notice police officers in towns, on roadways and highways, within communities, at picnic areas, in schools, and around businesses, all aimed at ensuring a safe and enjoyable holiday for everyone.
This proactive approach by the police not only aims to enhance safety during the bustling festive season but also fosters a collaborative spirit between law enforcement and community members, encouraging everyone to look out for each other.
