As the festive season approaches, residents can expect to see a heightened police presence throughout Fiji. The Fiji Police Force has launched its festive season operations, which began yesterday, with officers fully briefed on the critical nature of this initiative.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of starting these operations early, aiming to enhance public awareness regarding personal safety during the holidays. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on roads, shopping, enjoying picnics by the sea, or simply having fun with friends,” ACP Driu stated.

He reassured the public that the increased police presence is designed for the community’s safety. However, he also stressed that safety largely begins with each individual. “We are here for the maintenance of law and order, assisting our stakeholders in monitoring movements, particularly on our roads,” he added.

The Fiji Police Force is committed to ensuring a safe and incident-free festive season and is seeking the support of the community to achieve this goal. ACP Driu concluded by urging everyone to play their part in maintaining safety, whether they are on the roads, at the beach, in town, or at home with family.

During this festive season, the police will be visible in various locations, including towns, highways, communities, picnic spots, schools, and businesses. This initiative not only enhances public safety but also fosters a collective sense of responsibility among citizens.

As we approach these joyous celebrations, it’s heartening to see proactive measures being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. By working together, both the police and citizens can create a festive atmosphere that allows for fun and relaxation while maintaining a secure environment.
