As the festive season approaches, public safety is being emphasized across Fiji. The Fiji Police Force has launched operations nationwide starting this Friday, with a focus on ensuring the safety of all citizens during this busy time.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, underscored the importance of being vigilant regardless of the activities individuals are participating in. He stated, “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, out shopping, at picnics by the sea or rivers, and while enjoying their time with friends.”

To support this initiative, a heightened police presence will be visible in towns, cities, roads, and popular picnic locations. ACP Driu pointed out that while the police are there to provide safety, personal responsibility is key. “Safety starts with each individual,” he emphasized.

The police will also work alongside stakeholders to monitor movements, particularly concerning road usage, and ensure law and order is upheld during the festive period. ACP Driu expressed a desire for an incident-free season and called for community cooperation, noting, “Police cannot do this alone; we need your support.”

In light of these efforts, the community can look forward to a festive season marked by increased safety measures and shared responsibility. This collaboration between the Fiji Police Force and community members can foster a joyful and secure environment for families and friends to celebrate.
