As the festive season approaches, the public is urged to prioritize their safety. The Fiji Police Force has initiated its festive season operations across the country, beginning on Friday, to ensure a secure environment for all.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of being aware of personal safety during this lively time, regardless of the occasion. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, shopping, enjoying picnics by the sea or rivers, or simply spending time with friends,” remarked ACP Driu.
The police will increase their presence throughout various locations, including towns, cities, roads, highways, communities, picnic areas, schools, and businesses. ACP Driu added that they will collaborate with stakeholders to monitor movements, particularly on the roads, to help maintain law and order.
“Our goal is to have an incident-free festive season, and we are counting on everyone’s support in achieving this. The police cannot ensure safety alone; community cooperation is essential. Whether you’re traveling, enjoying beach outings, or spending time at home, please assist us in keeping our surroundings safe,” he urged.
As we gear up for celebrations, this proactive approach from law enforcement serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in ensuring a joyous and secure holiday season. This commitment fosters a sense of community spirit and vigilance, empowering individuals to enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
