As the festive season approaches, the public is urged to prioritize safety. This call to action coincides with the Fiji Police Force launching its festive season operations across the nation.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that safety should be everyone’s top priority, regardless of the event. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety while traveling, shopping, enjoying picnics, or simply having fun with friends,” said ACP Driu. He stressed that while police presence will be heightened to ensure safety, individuals must also take personal responsibility.
In addition to maintaining law and order, ACP Driu mentioned that the police will collaborate with various stakeholders to monitor movements, particularly on the roads. “The Fiji Police Force aims for an incident-free festive season and requests the community’s support. We cannot accomplish this alone; we need your help to keep everyone safe, whether on the roads, at the beach, in towns and cities, or at home with loved ones,” he added.
Residents can expect a significant police presence in urban areas, along highways, at community events, picnic sites, educational institutions, and commercial establishments throughout the festive period.
In this season of joy, it’s heartening that the authorities are taking proactive steps to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Let’s come together as a community to make this festive season enjoyable and secure for all.
