As the festive season approaches, the public is encouraged to prioritize their safety. This message comes as the Fiji Police Force launches its festive season operations nationwide, starting this Friday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the importance of individual responsibility during this joyful time. “We want everyone to be aware of their safety, whether they are traveling, shopping, enjoying picnics by the water, or simply celebrating with friends,” he stated.
In a bid to ensure public safety, the police force will enhance its presence across various locations, including roads, towns, picnic spots, and schools. “While we are increasing police visibility for everyone’s security, it’s essential that each person plays a part in looking out for their own safety,” Driu added.
Additionally, the Fiji Police Force is collaborating with stakeholders to monitor movements, particularly on the roads. Driu reiterated the need for community support in maintaining law and order. “We aspire to have an incident-free festive season, but we cannot achieve this alone. We need everyone’s cooperation—whether on the roads, at sea, in towns, or at home with family and friends,” he urged.
With heightened police presence across various locations, the authorities aim to foster a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone to celebrate this festive season. By working together, the community can create a secure environment where joy and safety go hand in hand.
This message serves as a reminder that while festive celebrations are meant to be fun and enjoyable, practicing safety awareness is crucial to ensure a memorable and incident-free season for all.
