Stay Safe This Diwali: Fiji Police Warn of Increased Risks

The Fiji Police Force is calling on citizens to prioritize their safety and security during the Diwali celebrations. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu expressed concerns that safety is often overlooked amidst the festivities.

“As we celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, we ask everyone to remain alert to potential safety threats,” commented Driu. He highlighted that this festive season often attracts criminal activity as offenders exploit moments of joy and family gatherings when people may be less vigilant.

The police aim to ensure a celebration free from incidents, but ACP Driu emphasized that public cooperation is vital for achieving this goal. He stated, “Your safety starts with you, as the primary defense against threats to your security lies in the decisions you make.”

Complacency can create opportunities for criminals, and accidents can occur, so the police urge everyone to maintain vigilance regarding their safety.
