Spread the love

The Fiji Police Force is calling on residents to prioritize their safety and security during this Diwali festival. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu emphasized that the focus on safety often diminishes amidst the celebratory atmosphere.

“While we enjoy the Festival of Lights, we must remain vigilant against potential safety and security threats,” ACP Driu stated. He warned that criminal activities often increase during this joyous time, as individuals gather for festivities, and safety measures can be neglected.

Driu highlighted that the police strive for a celebration free of incidents, but achieving this requires cooperation from the public. “Your safety begins with you, as personal decisions are the first line of defense against threats to your security,” he explained.

He cautioned that complacency could create opportunities for criminals and accidents. Therefore, he stressed the importance of remaining alert regarding safety and security at all times.
