Sakiasi Ditoka, the Minister for Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management, has emphasized the critical need for public vigilance during flood events. He strongly advised citizens against attempting to cross flooded roads, rivers, or streams, urging drivers to be particularly cautious while navigating roadways under these hazardous conditions.

In his address, Ditoka confirmed that initiatives are ongoing to tackle flooding issues in lower-lying communities. He pointed out that inadequate drainage systems are a major factor contributing to the persistent flooding in the Nausori corridor.

This message serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and preparedness during extreme weather conditions, as communities work together to minimize situations that can lead to danger and damage.

In light of the current challenges, it is encouraging to see government efforts focused on improving infrastructure to mitigate flooding issues, which could lead to safer communities in the future.
