As the festive season approaches, the Fiji Police Force has launched its operations to enhance safety and security across the nation. This initiative began yesterday, with officers briefed on the critical importance of their roles during this busy time.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that this early start to operations allows for proactive reminders about personal safety as individuals prepare to enjoy the festivities. He urged everyone to remain vigilant while traveling, shopping, or participating in leisure activities, such as picnics at the beach.
“The increased police presence is aimed at ensuring everyone’s safety, but it is essential that safety begins with each individual,” stated ACP Driu. He reiterated that the police are committed to maintaining law and order and will collaborate with various partners to monitor activities, particularly on the roads.
The police aim for an incident-free festive season and are calling for community support to achieve this goal. “We cannot do this alone; we need your assistance in keeping everyone safe, whether on the roads, at sea, in towns and cities, or at home with family,” he added.
Residents can expect to see police officers throughout towns and cities, along highways and roads, in community hubs, picnic areas, schools, and businesses, as part of this comprehensive safety initiative.
This proactive approach from the Fiji Police Force not only underlines the importance of community collaboration but also fosters a spirit of shared responsibility in ensuring a safe and joyful festive season for all. By working together, the community can enjoy the celebrations with peace of mind, knowing that law enforcement is dedicated to their safety.
