Stay Safe: Fiji Police Issue Urgent Advisory Ahead of Busy Weekend

The Fiji Police Force is urging all citizens to focus on their safety and security as a busy weekend of events approaches.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu noted that major conferences and gatherings occurring throughout the week have mostly been incident-free. However, as the weekend festivals approach, police operations will concentrate on major cities and towns to ensure safety amidst increased public movement and gatherings.

ACP Driu cautioned that opportunists might exploit the relaxed environment and advised the public to take necessary precautions. He highlighted that car break-ins, pickpocketing, and the theft of personal belongings such as bags, wallets, purses, and mobile phones are likely targets, urging everyone to remain vigilant.

Additionally, ACP Driu warned drug dealers that law enforcement will intensify efforts to combat illegal activities, with measures established across five policing divisions to address drug-related issues.

He also encouraged homeowners to implement security measures to protect their properties at all times.

The Fiji Police Force reminded vehicle owners to stay alert regarding the security of their cars, advising them not to leave keys in the ignition, doors unlocked, or windows down to prevent theft of vehicles.
