The Fiji Police Force is calling on the community to unite in ensuring a safe environment during the Fiji Primary Schools Tuckers Ice Cream Games, taking place at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on November 28 and 29.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasizes collaboration with school authorities to prioritize the safety and security of the participating students. He encourages parents, guardians, and teachers to remain vigilant and focus on children’s well-being, advising them to prevent instances where students might be swayed by negative influences.
“Keep communicating with your children. It’s crucial as they are impressionable and may find themselves in undesirable situations,” ACP Driu stressed. He further recommended that parents establish regular check-ins with their children, engage with the parents of their friends, and set up safety meeting points for emergencies.
Driu assured that comprehensive security measures would be implemented, covering both the event venue and its surrounding areas, including traffic management. He warned potential wrongdoers to steer clear of the event as the police will be on high alert.
“Security provisions will extend beyond the games venue to ensure the safety of the orderly flow of people into Suva following the events,” he added. Drivers are reminded to exercise care around the games venue and school zones.
Additionally, the Assistant Commissioner urged parents to discuss the repercussions of risky behavior with their children.
The Fiji Police Force wishes all participants success in the upcoming games, instilling hope for a spirited and harmonious event.
This initiative showcases the collective effort between local authorities and the community, aiming to foster a supportive environment where children can thrive and enjoy their participation in the games.
