The Land Transport Authority has urged road users nationwide to exercise caution as severe weather events, including heavy rain and flash floods, persist in various regions. Chief Executive Irimaia Rokosawa highlighted the heightened dangers related to road safety posed by these conditions, stressing the importance of vigilance for both drivers and pedestrians.
Rokosawa stated, “With intense rainfall and potential flooding impacting many areas, we urge all road users to remain vigilant. The combination of heavy rain, reduced visibility, and flooded roads can create hazardous situations.” He emphasized the need for everyone to prioritize their safety at all times.
The authority has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in areas prone to flooding. If travel is essential, individuals should stay informed about weather updates and road closures, and remain alert for any changes in conditions. “Be prepared for sudden road closures or detours, as well as potential hazards like fallen debris or washed-out roads,” he warned.
